Vanessa de Guzman

Hi, I’m Vanessa,
a Registered Provisional Psychologist. I work with children, teens, and adults who are navigating anxiety, stress, major life changes, or difficult experiences. I have a particular interest in working with the immigrant population who may be balancing different cultures, family expectations, identities, and the process of adjusting to a new environment.
I also work with individuals who are coping with the emotional and psychological effects of motor vehicle accidents. An accident can affect much more than physical health, and I support clients who are dealing with anxiety, changes in daily life, driving concerns, pain-related stress, or feeling like life has shifted since the accident.
I’m EMDR trained and incorporate CBT and play-based approaches into my work. With children and teens, I use age-appropriate activities such as art, play, stories, and creative approaches to make therapy feel more natural and relevant to them. With adults, I take a more conversational and collaborative approach to help them work through
difficult experiences, manage overwhelming thoughts and emotions, and develop strategies that fit their everyday lives.
I want therapy to feel practical, meaningful, and tailored to the person sitting in front of me.
